These heat-tolerant plants are low-maintenance and not very demanding. They thrive optimally when a controlled release fertilizer is applied at planting time, applicable to both landscape and container plantings. Supertunias are heavy feeders, yet typically, a single application is adequate for landscape beds in most climates. However, for longer seasons, consider a second application of controlled release fertilizer for landscape plantings. Containers generally require more frequent feeding than landscape plants. For container-grown Supertunias, it's beneficial to apply a controlled release fertilizer every two months. For peak performance, I recommend starting regular applications of water-soluble fertilizer about two months after planting. These additional feedings significantly enhance their growth and flowering throughout the summer.
